How people really use the iPhone

An Insightful study on the intuitiveness of the UI on the Jesus phone.

There’s a lot to take away from this type of data… the type of stuff you can probably apply to whatever you’re currently working on.

Check it out here- and don’t ask me why the first slide is ironically, impossible to read.

Byline: the first native google reader iPhone app

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

It’s not official, but pretty damn sweet.

Byline (developed by Phantom Fish), syncs to your Google Reader account so you can star, share items and mark as read, on the go.

It’s missing a couple of crucial features (there are no folders- just a big list of unread items and it should have a built in browser rather than launching safari every time a link is clicked), but overall it’s pretty solid and might get me away from my reader web app for a bit.

Check out the video tour here.

This was just released tonight… Unfortunately I’m running a version of Wordpress that’s too old, so I’m upgrading as I write this.

Aqua Forest for iPhone

You need to a flashplayer enabled browser to view this YouTube video

This app is absolutely insane- I wish this video showed all it’s capable of.

It’s basically a 2d physics engine that REALLY shows off the power of the iphone.

Forget monkeyball, this is the best time-waster I’ve seen in a while.

iPhone annoyance

The biggest gripe I have with browsing on the iPhone is that when i have multiple tabs open, previously open tabs will blank out- causing the tabs to refresh when going back them. This happens quite frequently, especially when navigating to a page using ajax or heavy javascript. I’ve called AppleCare a few times and they seem unaware or unable to admit this issue. My understanding is that when the cache is full, the system clears out previous data to lighten the load. However, clearing the cache does not seem to help. What HAS seemed to help a bit is resetting the network settings. Go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings. It definitely helps but only lasts a couple of hours with heavy browsing.

If you’ve got an Apple TV- make sure to add this site to your feeds. They give regular updates on which films have gone HD rental, so you can see what’s available when you’re away from home.
